Yes Adam disobeyed God.

BUT FOR WHAT REASON ?

Adam's love for Eve is the reason.

it doesnt elaborate

Eve was decieved
Adam ate the fruit with eyes wide open

there is a book called The Silence of Adam
which supposes Adam was standing there while Eve was tempted and did nothing... but I doubt it
and some views that Adam ate somewhat in sympathy to Eve

bottom line
it doesnt say and is no consequence to us
except that Adam did sin

so I would rule out the faithful theory
it was ground zero of death for mankind
as man fell and drug the whole creation down with it, death came, the gound born thornes and would be so until the one who wore the crown of thorned who died on the cross will come back and redeem not just believers but the enitre creation from pain suffering and death

I could be wrong but my answer in neither. Eve gave Adam the forbidden fruit. He didn't willingly get it. Therefore I don't think he was rebellious. He wasn't faithful either because he did eat it. Maybe he didn't know what it was or where it came from, but he should have asked. Eve probably would have told her story and Adam would have not taken that bite and the world would be in much better condition today.

Man is to be head of the household. Running his household in a Godly manner. This does not give man Liscense to be a drunk, or abuser, or anything else ungodly! When woman (she wasn't called Eve until the expulsion) took that bite and offered it to her husband, Adam had the authority to cast that serpent out of this economy for ever!! But he didn't, He rebeled against what God told him not to do!!

If you had found the doctrine you are citing and been able to present it you might get some clarification on that but for the moment the answer to your question is that Adam rebelled against God. What we have in the bible is what God wants us to know as far as doctrine goes.

edit:

The additional details shows that Adam blamed God, which is human nature in its truest form.

edit:

to KCBA, Adam and Eve already had free will, they were able to choose to disregard the serpent's temptation.

Maybe it is the curiousity of Eve that led her to try what the serpent was telling her about the forbidden fruit. As normal as a child trying to learn the steps of life, her eagerness to know was reason enough to be deceived by the unknown, then he even convinced Adam to taste it too to know. It is not rebellion but curiosity that led them to disobey.

Eve knew she was not to touch the tree, she allowed the serpent Rev.12:9; dragon, Devil and Satan to decieve her, so she listened to Satan instead of Adam who had heard what God said and told her, then Adam did listen to Eve. Gen.3:1-5;

If you have bothered to read the event you will find that they BOTH knew of the requirement NOT to eat of the fruit.

He died as promised and was not mentioned favorably in the Scriptures after that. He spread death to all men.

Actually, if you look closely at the account you can actually call him and Eve thieves as they partook of the tree......the only tree that was not given to them. The tree of "the knowledge of good and bad" represented Gods Sovereignty

If one looks upon this creation story as an analogy, then Adam didn't rebel when he realized the knowledge of good and evil; he took the next step in evolution that allowed humankind free will.

He was not rebelling, he just happened to be fooled by the devil, which is what the devil wanted. He is tricky like that, and that is why there is so much sin in the world. The devil's way of life that he so willingly offers to all humans is the easy way. We, ans humans, need to make the decision between what is easy, and what is right.
