As people have stated, Roy Jones' legacy is already cemnted. But what Roy SHOULD do and what he WILL do are polar opposites.

What he SHOULD do is retire and walk away from boxing now, while he still has his health. But what he WILL do is carry on boxing, and convincing himself (and very few others) that he is still as good as he was in 1996.

Roy Jones Jr truly believes he is the best - and it is this type of self belief that I admire. But it is also this type of self belief that will stop Roy Jones from accepting that he is finished as a boxer, and walking away.

His legacy will be that he was talented but he did'nt fight that many great opponents, and has suffered embarassing KO losses lately and will never regain his legacy. James Toney, a guy that Jones beat about 14 years ago will go down as the better fighter since he has improved more.

Roy was one of the best for a long time...he could do like a lot of fighters and hand pick a pillow puncher with a minor title but another loss would definitely tarnish his going away party...Roy will always be remembered as a pound for pound guy when people look back accurately at his career...sit back , collect a check from HBO for analyst time , and call it a day...

Roy Jones Jr should retire while he still has his dignity. His reflexes are something he relied on to win fights and they've diminished. I don't wanna see a great fighter like that go out on a losing streak. I think he's already secured his place in boxing history and he has nothing else to prove. If he does continue to fight i would like to see him take on Maybe Benard Hopkins. I don't know what weight class he's fighting at but maybe Jermain Taylor, Winky, Kelly Pavlik, or a rematch with Toney if he's planning on fighting heavy.

Nothing he has a great legacy. He was on top P4P for many years. He just didn't close strong. He proved he was dominant at middleweight, supermiddleweight and a great light heavyweight. His reflexes slowed down a bit and he couldn't overcome it. No problem that is just life. Still a first round no questions asked hall of famer.

As far as being competitive today he just doesn't have it anymore. Time caught up with him.

Roy Jones Jr., in my opinion, is one of the top 25 greatest fighters in boxing history, whether it's bare-knuckled or gloved. He is 1 of only two fighters to capture the light-heavyweight and the heavyweight title (the other one being Michael Spinks.) In fact, he completed an even more spectacular feat., considering that he even captured the middleweight title. There was even a point in time wherein he held six different light-heavyweight titles.
To say that Jones had a poor quality of opposition would be an insult. I mean, who has he beaten over the last decade and a half? He beat James Toney (then considered by experts as a pound-for-pound presence,) Reggie Johnson, Montell Griffin supposedly twice, Virgill Hill, Antonio Tarver, Bernard Hopkins, Eric Lucas, Antwun Echols, John Ruiz, Vinny Pazienza, Mike McCallum, and many more. What more can you ask for for a legacy?
To answer your question, there is nothing more Roy can do. His name is synonymous to boxing as Michael Jordan is to basketball; or as poverty is to the Philippines, as AIDS is to Africa, and as H is to H2O.

Roy Jones was a great boxer and has nothing to prove to anyone. He needs to just sit back and watch the younger fighters fight. I would hate to him tarnish his record and reputation like Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, Chavez, B-Hop(if he doesnt stop), Brett Favre, etc.

Never lost his legacy. One of the most talented fighters ever. He fought a couple of fights too many. he should give up the quest and retire, enjoy his family. I just hope he's not continuing to fight because he mismanaged the money he made.
