'Prerequisite' means a requirement before consideration, but there have been many people who have eased into atheism through thinking freely, than agnosticism, then finally atheism. When one becomes an atheist, one abandons the barriers to human discovery that is religion.

Atheism has been defined contained in the The concise oxford dictionary as disbelief contained in the existence of God, Godlessness. Now what's meant via God. It purely denotes the preferrred potential, who has created this Universe and is responsible for operating it. If it really is authentic, then atheism isn't restricted to disbelief in deities. it ought to for sure contain disbelief contained in the existence of ANY preferrred potential. Buddhism does not deny the existence of this preferrred potential. What do you mean by "disbelief"? Is it meant in a closed-minded sense, or in an unsure sense?
Also, if it is meant in an unsure sense, wouldn't it be a prerequisite for agnosticism rather than atheism?

Atheism is a misnomer. Man is a false god; does the atheist believe in self currently?
That fact also may be part of the logic for division in Christianity here in the USA presently.

There is no such thing as an atheist.

An atheist claims that there is absolutely no God or gods, no higher power. But to make an absolute statement, that person would have to have ALL of the knowledge concerning the subject of God/gods. If I say there are no fish in the ocean, I would have to have ALL the knowledge of every cubic inch in the ocean to be able to make that statement, and for that statement to be true. But I don't have ALL the knowledge, neither does the self-proclaimed atheist.

Therefore an atheist is really an agnostic.

Worded another way, it's not "disbelief" but a belief that there are no deities.

It seems superficial, but I think it's important to understand that, because neither atheists nor theists "know" whether god exists, they are BOTH belief systems.

Well, there is no organized group or club, but yeah, you either have religious beliefs in something, or you don't. If you don't, that means you are athiest: one who has no belief in any diety. If you believe in the giant pumkin from Peanuts, or demons or saints or pray to anything for any reason, you are not an athiest.
