I started a new job in August of 2006. I am still waiting on my W2 from my old employer and it'll probably be a while before I get it. Do I HAVE TO wait on that W2 to file or can I file one now and the other when I get it?

You should wait.

If you file with only one W2 now, you will have to file an amended return (form 1040X) later. Amended returns are not processed as quickly.

Sorry, you have to wait. You need all W2s to file.

Yes you have to wait, you can only files taxes once. Or you'll go through the more expensive process of having to refile and amend your prior return. It's better to just wait.

Legally employers are required to have W-2s out by Jan 31st. Have you asked for a replacment copy? If you lost it they don't have to hurry to replace it, but if you never got it maybe they will try to help you out.
