and you didn't realize it until the last second? In the middle of rush hour, I was at a light to turn right at a 3 way intersection. I looked to the left, and thought I was clear to go, and I went, and realized that I had cut in front of a car...that wasn't the scary part...this guy leans out of his window while driving past me, screaming at me, and luckily I didn't hear him, and luckily there was no accident. But it makes me think about road rage and risky driving. I used to yell obscenities at people whenever they cut me off, mostly because I was furious that someone would try to put my life in danger, but honestly, you don't know who you are dealing with on the road anymore. And it's making me wonder, am I the only one that feels bad about accidentally cutting someone off? Or am I just still freaked out about it? All I know is, I'll never yell at any other drivers like that guy did to me.

Yes, I feel bad on the few times I've done it accidently. I don't blame you for thinking about it, I also think about things like that. All you can do is keep trying to drive as good as you can. Don't beat yourself up over it. The other guy may have been ashamed later that he reacted like a moron. If not, then he really IS a moron..hehe

Boy, do I know exactly what you mean. It's a horrible feeling to have done something senseless WHEN WE'RE BEING SENSIBLE by looking and checking...and when another becomes angry or enraged - double darn. It wasn't so long ago that I used to be rude to slow or dim-minded drivers. When I get frustrated these days, I realize how far I've come because I won't lean on the horn (well! I beep), make nasty gestures or faces and things like that. The feeling is still there, but because I've determined not to further act upon it, it doesn't stay with me, it passes quickly. In fact I'm pretty pleased with myself (chuckle).
I do think, though, that if I'm not involved in an accident with a bicyclist, I'll witness one, one of these days. Why wear a helmet (those who even do) if they're gonna' ride on or barely inside their white line (bike lane), with their body and bike hanging into the lane? What I'm seeing is beautifully paved bike lanes, not bumpy edges where the pavement crumbles into dirt, and folks look like they're itchin' to rub shoulders with autos. Hey, how about looking over their shoulder before going around a parked car? I seldom see bicyclists (yes, a few do) look before entering the car lane. Not every driver automatically goes into the oncoming lane to give bicyclists room. Whew, vent, vent!

Sure, it happens to the best of us if you've been driving long enough. We all make mistakes. If you can tell the other driver "sorry", let them know. Otherwise, just learn from it and try to be more observant in the future. What's done is done. A little frustration will pass, as long as nodody was physically harmed. Just chalk it up to another experience.

You should try driving here in South Korea.

Your feelings become immune after a while.
