Well, you're going to die sometime, but if you lived a hundred and fifty years ago, you might well have been dead by the age of 5 due to outbreaks of cholera.

If you survived childhood, and hadn't died of skin-cancer after sweeping chimneys, then the chances are that you would die of respitary diseases related to industrial smog full of Sulphur Dioxide; possiblyt as young as 40.

If you had worked down the mines, you would have died of lung-disease; assuming that the mine hadn't blown up when methane gas ignited.

Since then, we have stopped burning coal except in power-stations; where most now have smoke-filters and washers fitted.

We have strict controls on car emissions of Nitrous Oxide, unburned hydrocarbons and the causes of chemical smog.

In fact, except in the middle of large cities at rush hour, the air quality is far better now than it has been since the start of the industrial revolution in the 19th century.

The chances are, you will live to be 80+ years of age, which is DOUBLE what it was likely to have been 150 years ago.

What is the object of the exercise?

You WILL die eventually.
