Cause I want to join the army, but you know how you see in the movies when they all go 'Yes sir, No sir' ........ well I want to do the same but say it with a smirk on my face so the instructor knew I was just taking the pi** and that I didnt really care what he just said.
I mean whats the worse they could do, its hardly like they could lay a hand on you. I'd set my lawyers on to em LOL.

Whiskey - If any of the instructors laid a hand on me, they had better be prepared to lose a few of their worldly possessions. The rule of law doesnt just stop at the military gates.
It would be the instructor who would be doing a year in a cell with a guy named Bubba ......

My cousin thought it would be a clever idea to backchat his Drill Instructor when he was in basic training for the Royal Air Force Regiment. His punishment was to be sent to the Airmans Mess where he was detailed to peel sack loads of onions for eight hours straight. Suffice to say he learnt his lesson and no longer answered back. He ended up leaving the RAF with an exemplary record after completing his twenty years and is now a senior Officer in the Fire Brigade.
But the real question here is why would you want to join the military to not get a long. This is a no-win situation for you. The Drill Instructors are smart people they have been training knobheads like you for years so they no how to make life very uncomfortable for you without resorting to physical violence. And remember once you sign up it is very difficult for you to get out of it. Think of how it will look on your resume when it shows that you washed out of basic for being a smart mouth. McDonald's wouldn't even take a second look at you with that kind of attitude!

All covered above, except remember who your first NCOs at your first posting are going to ask about you! You might hear how tough and lonely basic can be- just remember that's just to prepare you for the real thing. No personal experience here, I'm a regular team player from across the pond. Here's one I prepared earlier though:
A squad of recruits are near the end of training and are being inspected by the Regimental Sergeant Major (also popularly known as God). The RSM stops in front of one recruit and stares at said recruits boot having noticed a slight blemish. Prodding the recruit in the chest with his pace-stick he remarks:
"There is a piece of **** on the end of this stick!"
Without much hesitation the erstwhile recruit rejoins:
"Yes Sir, but it's not on this end Sir!"
What happened next? Answers on a postcard...

I strongly suggest you give up any idea of joining the Army. You obviously don't have the right attitude for it. From the getgo you are intending to disrespect a superior and making a legal case out of it if you don't get away with it. I wouldn't want you in my outfit - even if you got through basic...... which I don't think you would. If you're rich enought to have lawyers, maybe you should just figure on going to college. Just don't pick West Point... you wouldn't make it there either.

You question explains SO much about the American attitude and personality.
I'm sure you must feel so very proud of yourself.
Think on - there are men and women on the ground in a theatre of war trying to maintain the 60+ years peace your fore-fathers and grandfathers fought so hard to get...
I'm all for freedom of speech and democracy - God knows we are trying hard to keep these values - which are so taken for granted today by people like you... but I have to admit, I would love for you to be compulsarily enlisted for basic training under the watchful eye of a Regimental Sergeant Major... I would PAY money to see the outcome of such an experience for you....

I reckon not.
See, genius, it works like this: you wise-mouth the instructor, he sets his sights on you. He does everything possible without laying a hand on you to make your life totally miserable....and believe me, there's a LOT he can do!
Then, he blames YOUR attitude on the failure of your fellow recruits...after all, you're supposed to be a team, right? So instead of punishing you, he punishes your ENTIRE PLATOON....extra physical training, extra running, extra cleaning of the barracks, extra work details, extra everything. And with every "extra" thing your platoon members are forced to do, he will tell them that it's all YOUR fault for being a wise-***.
HE won't have to lay a hand on you. After a week of this, your own platoon will catch you in the shower or in your bunk at night (ala "Full Metal Jacket") and beat the piss outta you with lots of bars of soap in a sock. And no matter how big a bad-azz you think you may be, I can guarantee you that you can't fight off your entire platoon.
So sure, skippy, you go right ahead and smart-mouth your drill sergeant. You go right ahead!

Such the man you are "so-called" big Dave. Sounds like you are big on yourself...seeing how you seem to already "know" what you would do makes one question your character as a "real" man. I doubt if you would "do" much of what you "talk." I agree with many of the people who've answered this question already. And its funny to know that many WOMEN have already answered the call to serve this GREAT nation for your pathetic excuses.
