Does it make a difference in price to leave from various cities in California such as San Francisco, San Jose, etc.?

sidestep.com....it lets you search several different airlines with flexible dates, but currently hawaiianairlines.com is having a sale if you book by 2/14 and plan to travel within a month

Yes, it does make a difference - best prices I found were through Hawaiian Airlines.
