First, look at all that junk in the system tray. Get rid of anything you don't really really really need. Many of them, you can right-click and get a menu and find a configure or options or preferences item and a checkbox that says "run at startup". Uncheck it.

Next, what are you using for virus checking? Norton (Symantec) and McAfee are hogs. Dump 'em and get avast OR avg (both free) (not both).

Check for spyware and adware. I use spybot & adaware (both free). Run each and get rid of whatever they say is bad.

Defrag, clean out your temp files ("disk cleanup"), and you should see a difference.

Go buy a Mac :-)

Mine boots to full operation in 31 seconds.

Okay really you can go to www.majorgeeks.com and find some fixes to improve your start up time. You can also try to remove some items that you don't need from your startup menu.
