I am the new sister-in-law of the bride and I hardly know her but I was asked to give a toast at a reception.
What suggestions can you give me?

Tell a story about how she and your brother met or tell a story about the moment you/your family knew that your brother was in love with her or when you all knew that she was destined to become a part of your family. Then tell how happy you are to welcome her and her family as a part of yours. Then toast to the happy couple and wish them the joy and blessings that a wedding brings. Good luck!

These are great answers! Also, make sure you say something about how happy you are that she's going to be a member of your family and how happy she makes your brother.

I read a poem at the last 2 weddings I was matron-of-honor for:

First tell a short funny story about your brother and you growing up. Then end it with...

May you be best friends as only lovers can,
May you be love each other as only best friends can.
To XXX and XXX...many happy years together!
