Pressurized wood is safe for kids--there's no chemicals added to it. I don't know if cedar is ever pressurized, though.

Do you mean to keep wood mulch longer or to protect outdoor equipment made of wood? Wood mulch-well that is a budget item to replace annually or semi-annually. To protect wood, look for something that says it is safe on those items. They make paint now for painting childrens toys and equipment-the hardware store should be able to tell you more. Not a mega chain store-go to someone that only does hardware or paint, they will actually know what you need.

Don't put any chemicals on it. The wood chips will naturally break down so you may have to add more annually or as needed.
