Colds are caused by a virus....PERIOD!
The reason there are more colds around in winter is simply because colds are spread person-to-person, and in winter people are cooped up in small areas.

Yes, you can if you stay out in it most of the day and it is below 32 degrees. The cold air you breath in, and the hot air you exhale make the membranes in your nose excrete mucus, and before you know it you have the sniffles. In time it can turn into a cold due to the excess moisture.
I lived in the Great North Country for about 18 years, around the Great Lakes, and in the winters I experienced this a lot.
If you were to take a microscope and look at the snow under it's lens, you would see a variety of organisms. These organisms can cause germs, and are germs. The longer the snow sits on the ground the more it becomes invested with germs (living organisms).

The weather does not cause colds. Germs, bacteria, and viruses cause colds. The reason you get sick more often during the winter is because people tend to gather indoors and often don't open their windows and all those airborne particles are getting passed around from person to person.

The "cold" doesn't necessary make you sick. It's the germs that float around with the cold that make you sick. So I say Yes.
