Sunflower is NOT the same but it is cheaper. I wouldn't thank anyone for drizzling my sliced tomatoes with sunflower oil. Olive oil is gorgeous on uncooked food, sunflower oil is ok for chips. You will have Popeye opening his tin of spinach and using you for a punch bag.

Popeye's girlfriend was Olive Oyl. Olive Oil is the oil from pressed olives. The two are different.

If you use Olive Oyl then Popeye may get upset, but if you use Olive Oil then Popeye will probably be amused a the similarity between his girlfriend's name, and a popular Mediterranean cooking oil that is gaining favour in England.

No because popeye is just dyes on celluloid. Olive oil is a vegetable oil high in monosaturated fats. So everyone ought to use Olive Oil, and if there is a popeye - tough mate Olive is too good to keep to yourself!!

Sunflower oil is no substitute for the delicious demure delights of Olive Oyl, but you will have to contend with the pugnacious puncharoo Popeye if you use her like that, even if she likes it!

Although Popeye recognizes how very charming and popular Olive Oil is, he is not immune to her getting undue attention from other men. She's kinda slippery and he's afraid she'll get away from him. But then she's always green with envy when other women fawn over Popeye's muscles.
