It will not do any immediate damage. The chemical composition of the two is a little different. Drive it for a few months then have the system flushed. This needs to be done periodically anyway! And happy motoring!

The coolant that your vehicle has (GM recommendations) is Dex-Cool....They claim that this is a 100,000 mile coolant.......DON'T BELIEVE IT !.....There have been numerous problems with this coolant. Some tech's say it is because of faulty intake gaskets, others say it is from not changing it every couple of years. However we found that on vehicles where we flushed the Dex-Cool out,and replaced it with coventional 50/50 mix coolant, these problems did not occur. Most newer coolants are compatible with all,but given the fact that we are in the middle of winter,I would have the above proceedure done.

Your vehicle uses what is called "dex-cool"which is supposed to be a 100,000 mile coolant.DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!change this coolant about every other year or 35,000 miles depending on how you drive.it is advisable to do a coolant flush this time but not every time you replace all of your coolant.

The guy above me is perfectly correct.Just thought i'd add that so you know who to listen too.You can mix the two together but get rid of that darn reddish dex-cool crap!! Your engine will thank you for it and so will your wallet later on down the road!

I personally like dexcool, has worked well for me.

If you mix the two (yes they are different) all it means is that you should flush it out and change it at 45k instead of 150k

If you want it to last the 150k then you would need to drain system, flush with water and then refill with dexcool.

I think it depends how much you put in but to be safe flush it and replace with the dexcool. And dexcool is different from the green coolant.

I'm not sure, but I thought it was all okay...in fact I thought that having part water was also good.

Hello. You should have it syphoned out. You can use the same type of pump that you syphon kerosine with. It's not hard to do.
