Burma (Myanmar), is open to tourism but everything is controlled by the military junta. Even the hotels are owned by them. The people of Burma see no money from tourism.
Tourists never see real Burma. The illegal military government still oppresses the people of beautiful Burma. There is still forced labor, rape, illegal arrests and imprisonment, torture, and murder by the government. There are no human rights. Tourist are only allowed to travel in controlled zones.
If you travel to Burma, the money you spend will be used by the junta and they will carefully monitor your travels, contacts, and every move.

We got a Myanmar maid and she always says her country is much better than Singapore. So I believe she is saying the truth and why worry they open up or not. As long we live in this planet there are someone above us suppressed us.

You need to clarify what you mean by 'open up'??

I met someone who used to live there and loved the people of Myanamar. He mentioned they are among the nicest he has ever met.

Some group needs to come down on the Govt! I heard George Bush recently went to Myanamar and actually got very upset with officials regarding Human Rights there. Not like he doesn't have problems!....LOL

Maybe someone will step up to bat and tackle the govt. You never know.

I want to visit there at some point. Hopefully someone or group will eradicate these problems and Myanamar will be free of these problems.
