Forget the Poligrip and those other frauds... Super Glue will keep those choppers IN PLACE even if she pulls a locomotive 200 yds.

Polygrip and Fixodent are the best ones. If they are too loose, she probably needs to have them relined for a better fit, but we usually recommend waiting about 6 months after having surgery for the tissue and bone to settle and shrink so there won't be any more changes to the mouth structure before this is done. In extreme cases a soft reline is done at the dentist office. It does give added suction to the upper and gets the lower closer to the ridge. Only bad thing is that it's messy and soft, so it stains and get particles stuck in the material making it difficult to clean since you can't brush it. This is the part that lies against the tissue in the mouth and is not noticeable on the teeth or acrylic area. It is used in cases like this as a temporary fix until the 6 months are up. She may need to have this done several times over the period of a few months, depending on how long it is before she can have a permanent reline done on them. Also if she's been in dentures awhile or has significant bone loss on the lower, there may not be enough ridge to hold the denture in place. Most patients suffer with this and there really isn't anything that can be done. It's the natural course of life, once the teeth are removed the bone just dissipates and the denture has nothing to rest upon. If the Polygrip or Fixodent works a little she may want to hold off on doing this treatment. Tell her to avoid hot drinks after placing the dentures; it tends to loosen the adhesive. Good luck and I hope I was of some help
