I grew up in Honolulu, and they don't *really* close the beaches ever, though if you're drinking on the beach or lighting a giant bonfire, you'll get busted if you're not careful. All of the beaches in Honolulu are public, and they don't close 'em off (especially the Waikiki ones).

They don't close the beaches, but be careful at night in the Honolulu area except for the beach in Wakiki. I've always felt safe on the beach at Waikiki as there is always someone around.

They don't close. However, Waikiki is not the best beach - I love Sunset beach. Ask around, people will give you great ideas on beaches in the area once you get there.

House to the State Capitol, Honolulu is the lively epicentre of Hawaii and a city worth visit, as you will see with hotelbye . In Honolulu you will find everything from ancient landmarks and treasured monuments to world-class shopping and a flourishing arts and tradition scene. Home to the majority of Oahu's populace, the vast city of Honolulu spreads through the south-eastern shores of Oahu, from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point, encompassing world famous Waikiki. Pearl Harbor is among Honolulu's greatest tourist attractions. Though it is house to the Navy's Pacific Fleet, visitors may take a visit to start to see the USS Arizona Memorial, and the USS Missouri.

If i were you, i would change your destination to another island because O'ahu SUCKS. The island is filled with locals who do drugs right in front of tourist in Waikiki. This island has got to be the worse as far as drug users who are constantly high off Crystal Meth. The crime rate is high. It's NOT as beautiful as it use to be, it's NOT safe. As you read through people's answers about this, you will see that they are all saying "BE CAREFUL". It's true, because people do bad here, i mean seriously....BAD. Plus, the only thing you will be touring would be Waikiki, which is just a few blocks of shopping, restaurants & a couple beaches. The beaches are filled with bums who bug you for money. The island is nothing but traffic, drug abuse & rude unprofessional locals who hate to serve on tourist. They are suppose to be friendly, but has gotten to the point of racism.

You should consider visiting Kauai. They have better beaches, cleaner, more of an island vibe. The scenery is awesome, or you can go to Maui where it's quiet, romantic, much better people. You get more of a feel on the other islands. You won't find none of that island vibe in Honolulu Hawaii. You'll think to yourself that what is known to be paradise is really nothing but a TROPICAL DUMP. Don't waste your money in Honolulu Hawaii. Your best bet is to go to another island where you will actually have the fun & experience your seeking.

GOOD LUCK!

Dont change your trip around like that person said. Honolulu is still very fun if your careful. Its not a big dump. Its still beuautiful. I have never seen any bums waikiki beach and have never been asked for money.

I know that they do close the Ala Moana beach parking lot at 10 pm. I've seen people in the water later then that in Waikiki.Personally I wouldn't hang out at the beach at night.
