Hi KK,
I hope I can help you. What people feed their animals tend to be a pet peeve of mine and this happens to be an area I am very picky on. I have been very happy with the Prairie dog food which is put out by Nature's Variety and it's based on a raw diet. They produce both dry, caned and frozen foods and it's not filled with corn, soy or bi-products and what ever other junk the different companies like to add to most animal food. Natural Balance is another good choice which is put out by Dick Van Patten's and is easier to obtain versus the Prairie. Just to warn you both brands are expensive but in my mind well worth getting because neither brand is filled with the crappy fillers. I hope one of these works for you.
Sincerely,
Alice H.

I recommend that a dog owner look at the pet food label. Look at the ingredient list and a meat such as chicken should be listed as the first ingredient. Look at the guaranteed analysis to see that the protein level is at 30% or more. The fat content should be at 18% or more. And if there is a rather wide spectrum of ingredients such as omega fatty acids and Vitamin E, that's good, too. There should be NO FOOD COLORING! If you find a few diets that meet this criteria, and there are quite a few from which to choose, you just might have the confidence that you are feeding the best dog food you can get.

You want to stay away from foods with ingredients such as corn, wheat, fillers, beef and by products. All of those ingredients are hard for your dog or puppy to digest.
Some bad foods are Iams, Purina, Alpo, Science Diet, Pedigree and Bil Jack.
Some GOOD foods are Natures Recipe, Nutro Max, Lassie and Royal Chain.
I personally recommend Natures Recipe. It is an all natural food and extremely healthy for your dog or puppy. It leads to a shinny coat and a healthy body. It also cuts down on shedding, bad breath and the amount of stool your dog produces.
Before switching foods you want to check with your vet and make sure your dog or pup has no health problems.
After that you want to switch him or her slowly otherwise it will make him or her sick.
You can find those healthy foods at your local Pet Smart or Pet Co.

It all depends on what your looking for, compare ingredients and also you need to look at how much you feed your dog. If you get a better quality food you will feed less and have less to clean up. So whats more important healthy dog and less dog waste or OK food and lots and lots of "POO" .Basically it's your call,I've tried them all and I thought that best commercial dog food was Pedigree.

Dog food is like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. If you buy dog food that costs $8 for a 50 lb bag you can bet it's made from very cheap ingredients (ground corn and meat & bone meal), on the otherhand if you want your dog to eat filet mignon, lobster tails, and truffles there is probably a diet out there with those ingredients just be ready to pay for it.
My advise: find a reasonably priced food that your dog likes. Chances are your dog will do fine. Don't let anyone guilt you into buying an overpriced dog food.

Although fairly expensive, Eagle Pack is the best on the Market in my opinion.

There are several good ones. Iams, Science Diet, Eukabana, and Kirkland are my favorites. I actually believe Kirkland (you get it from Costco) is one of the best dog foods in terms of ingredients. You can also get recommendations from your vet.
