I appreciate your sincere question. In tithing we are to return (not give) back to God the first fruits of our labor, which is 10% of our increase. Like tithing, devotional time to me should also involve the first fruits of our day. Meaning that we should give the Lord the first of our day.
I begin my devotional time at 5:30 in the morning with a prayer, a daily devotional reading, an in depth study of the Bible (currently studying 1 Tim 3) with the use of a commentary on Timothy, then close with prayer. It takes about 45 to 60 mins.
I have tried studying in the evening before bed, uh, that was a waste. Too late, too sleepy, too dead tired to understand and focus. Plus, you go to sleep not being able to meditate on what you have studied and begin your day without remembering anything from the night before.
I read somewhere that if you begin your day with God, you don't have to confess to sins that night.

You make time by setting aside some time. You might need to start with a few minutes each day and eventually that will grow. You make time by waking up a little earlier, setting aside some of your lunch break, cutting down on TV time, etc. During this time you pray. Talk to the Lord about whatever is on your mind. Also read the bible and ask the Lord for understanding as you read.

I make time for devotion in the morning before everyone gets up. Pray and read the Bible. Keep a prayer journal to write down thoughts and prayers.

God gave us all 24 hours in a day. You will find the time, Ask Him to guide you to the hour. I travel 30 mins to work and back. I listen to praise music and worship Him during this time, or you could listen to a christian radio station. they usually have some form of a devotion on there. Also i get up early, i watch a christian program that i like, its quiet. im alone, its all before i start my day.

It's something that you have to make an effort to do...but it needs to be done....I like to talk to Him well I am in the car, I also pray while I am doing dishes and cleaning the kitchen......but the car seems to be the place I really talk to him.....Also...if you have time take a quiet lunch...while you eat read some verses.....God understands that we are busy...and He takes notice to the fact that we make an effort to talk with Him....so take the long way home, and you have all of a sudden made time for the Lord....Be blessed

I understand- I am not as busy and sometimes I still do not spend quiet time, like today I have been on this forum too much! I love looking up scripture and answering questions, but I also need to read my bible and pray everyday--not every other day--this is something we need to discipline ourselves with! Because when we do, the joy of the Lord really does amplify our lives!

Jesus's 'special' prayers were in the garden of Gethsemane. Have a special place if possible for prayer. I find it beneficial to pray early in the day (usually before dawn presently) and before others get up.
May you receive a large pleasant surprise today to God's glory!!!

It was a challenge for me too, but once I started devotion, it has become routine for me every morning and night. Just start, you won't be disappointed. When you come to Christ, with your heart, you will never want Him to leave and you won't have to worry about finding time. Be Blessed!

There is always time for prayer. I pray when I walk my dog in the morning, or even in the shower, and when I'm driving on the road. It certainly helps me to calm down! :-)

give and it shall be given to you.
think of the time you spend with the lord as a tithe of your time, it does not have to be 10%.
you will find if you set aside time to spend with the lord that other thing will go smoother and you will actually have more free time than you had before.
