If you want an ancient-greek-looking vase, you may want to use black and orange, one as the background colo(u)r (whichever). Paint human figures doing something. Or, if you want something "older", divide your painting surface in horizontal layers and fill each layer with a particular geometric pattern (use yellow and brown).
