To a 3 year old. They gave my daughter Amoxil for her strep throat, and a basic cough med?

Does this make sense to you?

Yes, as LIFECOACH stated , it is from the penicillin family. Penicillin is the traditional treatment for strep. However, we have recently seen an increase in the penicillin resitant strep. So if your child is not showing some good improvement in 48-72 hours after beginning the amoxil, I would check back with your doc. Just pleae be sure to give it exactly as prescribed and be sure to give it for the prescribed amount of days. People haven't always followed the directions and that is why we are seeing alot of these drug resistant bacteria. Hope she gets better soon! The Chloroseptic throat strips work great for pain.

yes....it is a form of penicillin

It is also good to have your child gargle some warm salt water to sooth their throat....

or...have plenty of ice-pops on hand so they can have some form of fluids that are good tasting and soothing....

Your baby will be better within the next 24 hrs....

But they won't really be over it for about a week!
