-If you go into NROTC wanting to be a Marine, are you guranteed that or could you get stuck in the Navy? (Not that the Navys terrible or anything, but if you wanted to be in the Marines)

-How hard is it to get a scholarship going into NROTC to become a 2nd Lt. in the Marines?

-Do you get to choose your career feild (Infantry, Armor, Feild Artillery, ect..) after college when you serve?

-How hard is it to be accepted into the MECEP? (Totally different program from NROTC but has the same goal basically)

-----

If you know all of the answers, that would be great. If you only no one of them, that would be a big help too. Thanks alot.

I think the MC option of NROTC is pretty easy. The NROTC part might be harder. A coworker's son just finished but he is a genius. Wrote something 1400 SATs.

He got to list 3 choices for occupational field. He got his choice. He is going to fly AH-1 Zulus. He said that 80% got one of their 3 choices. I have no way of verifying that. I would guess if you want Infantry (Ooorah!!!!), Armor (long hair), or be a cannon cocker you could get one of those. Not too many college graduates are going to ask for those.

MECEP is tough but rewarding. You will get to go to actual boot camp, become an enlisted Marine then go to college and get commissioned a 2nd Lieut. You will be called a 'Mustanger' and get more respect from guys like I was (a Sergeant). Especially the senior SNCO (Master Sgts., First Sgts, and Sgts Maj). If you go MECEP don't get any Tattoos that can be seen on your arms wearing a short sleeve (Charlie) shirt. They don't like officers to look all rough like that. You will get a tattoo while drunk on liberty in the Phillipines or Thailand or or some other garden spot like that. Everybody says that they won't and everybody does. Just don't get your girlfriend's name. She is going to leave you for some long haired 'Jody' anyway.

1. Not hard at all to choose Marine Option.
2. What field you go into depends on how you place in your class. You get to choose if you place well. Otherwise, needs of the Marine Corps takes over.
3. MECEP is much more competitive as you will be selected from a pool of applicants who may have much more qualifications than you and there are only a few chosen each year from the enlisted Ranks.
