I've built bulky legs trough spinning/cycling. I'm trying to get my legs to be thinner in about 4 weeks. I will continue to spin but with lower resistance. How long until I start seeing results?

I also wondering if I should reduce the endurance (feel the burn type of thing) while spinning or not?

Firstly I will assume that you do have "bulky" legs. Not just that they are bulky in comparison to the anorexic flat chested, toothpick legged, models that you see in fashion magazines. (They are only used to make the clothes look good)

Personally I would like a look at these "bulky" legs myself. Not that I'm a perve or anything just so I can give you a more informed opinion. If you do post a picture then, if you could lightly exercise just before so that the morning sun will glisten in the sweat still trapped in your pores subtly accentuating the muscle tone.........oh alright I'm a perve.( Just trying to make a point here, already coped an earful from wife)

I can only assume that you have bulked up by jumping on your bike and going at it for all it is worth, for a relatively short time (30 or so minutes) many times a day. Your probably eating a fair bit of protein also things like (eggs, milk, chicken, fish). There is a good list of high protein food at this link.

To get rid of the bulk "roadiebiker" is pretty close to the money. Reduce the proteins and up the pasta fruit and vegies. get rid of all the bike's resistance and peddle for longer periods, the longer the better. (Quicker you will get rid of the bulk). Don't push it to more than a gentle pant. (60-70% heart rate) You shouldn't feel the burn at this rate.

By doing this you will be working the muscle fibres closer to the bone which will burn up the protein still in you diet. The fibres further out (the bulky looking) should start to fade. You should start seeing results within a few weeks

High repitition low load will keep you toned up. If you stay at a pant pace you will be able to stay on your machine longer and work you cardio system much more effectively.

Once you get back to were you want to be return to a normal diet.

Female body builders that have changed from body building competition to fitness competition follow a diet of low protein high carb diet. Just make sure you are not taking in more calories than you are burning. Concentrate of a lot of cardio and high rep, low resistance training. Keep in mind it takes time and you should do more research on the subject to stay healthy and fit. Concentrate more on your fitness goals rather than just reducing bulk and it will work out in the long run.

Generally to build bulk, you need to use high resistance with low reps. Even higher-resistance cycling is really a low-resistance activity (at least insofar as building bulk, where very low-rep weight lifting is needed). To be honest, it is unlikely that continued spinning , even at a lower resistance is going to thin out your legs. (Once you're in shape, genetics will have the greatest impact on the ultimate shape of your legs.)
To thin out your legs, you will probably have to lose the muscle. This will take a number of weeks. I wouldn't advise that though. Be happy with who you are, and take pride in what you have accomplished. There are tons of people who would love to trade places with you!

I feel your pain.. my friends call me circus midget.. I'm 5'2" also and I have to sometimes hem the petite pants... There isn't much you can do.. but you can make them look longer by the way you dress.. wearing pinstripe pants and wearing skirts that fall just above the knee.. and wearing pointy toed shoes. I kind of have the opposit problem though.. I have little midget legs, but I have skinny ankles and muscular calves and am kind of chunky the rest of the way up. Thats just as much of a problem.. if I get things like capris that fit my thighs they look rediculus on my calves.. and even when a tennis shoe fits my feet, it makes my feet look huge because of my little bird ankles. I like the machines at the gym designed for just your legs.. I can really feel it in my calves when I am doing those.

If that's how your genetics formed your legs while riding, then enjoy it! Are you pushing olympic power-lifter or keirin sprinter size legs? Are your thighs bigger around than your waist and solid muscle?

If not, then you are simply SEXY, not bulky! Take it from a cyclist: firm, tone legs on a woman are gorgeous, and anyone that doesn't like them is just jealous.

lol. looks like some one wants to quit cycling. You would want all the burn in your legs as you can because thats th feeling of muscle being eaten up by lactic acid. Thats also the reason overtraining hurts your preformance.

Revert? Why would we ever want to be less strong?

Be proud of your muscles. Now go outside and pass some guy on a hill. Sure, you can wink as you pass 8-)

Honestly, be proud of your body. Lots of guys think a girl with thick, toned legs is super hot.
