He was anticipating the religious divisions which occurred within the 16th century as a result of the break from Rome which occurred due to the introduction of protestantism.

Basically, he prophesised that christians would start to slaughter one another in the most barbaric fashion all because they claimed to be a better supporter of Jesus than the others were.

Absolute Madness!! Thank goodness that most sensible, educated people have now abandoned these primitive and superstitious religions in favour of science and reason.

If uncertain as to the truth then please read Richard Dawkin's excellent book The God Delusion. It is to the 21st century what the bible was to the dark ages!

Or to put it another way: We Evolved And You Didn't!

yes and no.
i know the piece.
It was said bcos the Lord will separate a son from his father and a daughter from her mother.
this is bcos of the separation of those who are in the kingdom of light and those who reside in darkness.

this is a profound sadness which most Christians find almost too hard to bare.
me included.

good question or not???

I don't know but maybe it is the dividing of good and evil, right and wrong. He asks his followers to follow his teachings fo what is right and wrong. So he is dividing the free will from good and evil into good, giving the people the choice.

I'm not a God bod, so this is just a quess.

there are those that believe by faith in jesus--and those that don't believe in jesus.
God does not make anyone believe--it's your choice. if you choose to not believe--thats your choice.

if you believe that all people should believe like you do--and there are many on both sides who believe that their belief is the only belief.

jesus is just saying--there are those who will deny me to the point of disrespecting everything i stand for.and the devision will be so great that they will find it hard to tolerate believer.

if you don't believe by faith thats ok for you
if i choose to believe by faith thats my choice it ok for me.

is this statement jesus made appropos for todays society
ANGER OVER A QUESTION--DOES NOT HAVE TO BE
it's ok to differ. good question

..Jesus said he came not to bring peace but a sword ... and to set people at odds against each other .. even family members ... so you see the fact that u think its cute to torture and belittle christians and say theyre the cause of the worlds problems ... Jesus warned us about that situation about 2000 years ago ..

Not being one of God's fans I can't help you with that one mate! I can help you with your yahoo ID though. "Mike Hunt" is a VERY old joke. Still amusing, but hardly cutting edge.

Look around you:

There are firm believers and those who deny him.

The debate is all about Jesus. The world has split: Those who believe he is the son of God, and those who don't
