They were actually talking about Roman times so it has already came and went.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
I don't usually quote scriptures, but I think you'll enjoy the historical context of this one. You see, people thought the second coming was so soon that they were quiting their jobs, and in this letter from Paul they were basically told, "no, some other things need to happen first, so get back to work."
I think the "falling away" in this scripture has happened, but there's still more things that need to happen first. In other words, yes, I believe we're in the last days, but I'm still saving for retirement.

I don't think soons means immediate, because Revelations tell us that there will be famine, disease, wars, etc. Sure, we have all that now, but we've always had that before.
We have AIDS, but before AIDS, we've had polio, smallpox, bubonic plague, etc.
We have wars now, but there's been two world wars, the cold wars, the civil war, the crusades.
We have famines in the sense that people in third world countries don't have enough food, but there was Stalin's famine, the famine in Egypt over two thousand years ago, and the Irish potato famine.
I think when the end comes, it'll be more obvious.

Heck - Paul himself said Jesus would return in HIS lifetime... That never happened either...
So, I think soon in Biblical terms is an eternity...he aint never coming back!

Maybe God suffers from premature ejaculation, that's why all must happen soon.

Well, we're talking about "God's Time", and no one really knows what that means. Not even God, I suspect...
