Probably because they don't want to look like a big dummy if the other person doesn't say it back.
Maybe the other person will get scared off.
Love is a very strong emotion and I think that's why it is so hard to proclaim your love for someone. It leaves you vulnerable and that's scary for some people.

Because everyone makes such a big deal over it. No one can agree on what it is, when to say it, if it's the right time or too early stuff like that. It's a pain in the wahzoo!

It depends on the person and how comfortable you are with them to share your inner most feelings. When you can't say it face to face, you can say it in a letter, a card, with flowers, or a thousand little ways that show you care and love someone.

some of these answers are mean but to tell you the truth it's hard because you don't know if they love you back I am dealing with the same thing I think i love a guy but i don't know and also I don't want him to say that he doesn't . what makes it worse is that we went out last year but we lost touch over the summer and we arn't in the same classes and I love him

Do you think that they love you? If yes it shouldn't be difficult just do it privately so no one else hears. If you are unsure then try telling the person you like them a lot first and warch their reaction to that statement.

it shouldn't be difficult if you really care for them. exceptions are few, one possibility is cuz you are just so insecure that you are terrified of telling someone you love them, cuz you afraid they will treat you badly or if your dating someone who is a narcissist (the reasons are obvious in that situation). this is extreme situations only. most of the time when someone won't tell you they love you, it's because they do not love you.

you should only love yourself and share that love for your self with others. maybe to say i love you is a lie when what your feeling is a boost of self enjoyment derived from someone enjoying spending time with you???????? i'm not sure if know what i'm on about on not?

i think it is hard because you know if they say it back then you could be potentially looking at your partner for life and it is hard to settle down just then. But if you really love him/her then you should do it..it is better to love and lost then not to love at all.
dont be afraid to let your feelings show and you never now..........

Lots say it and don't mean it they are just words, to really mean saying it then I think it is being sure that you are, so it's not always easy.

its not hard when u truly love someone---for those who find it difficult I think there are several issues---intimacy, fear of rejection, and upbringing. dont forget to show the love also.
