the Antichrist will be an apostate priest or Christian secular ruler, perhaps a Pope or other high leader of the Christian church, or a pretender to the Papacy.
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (KJV)

well that's the description but, like you said, his name is kept secret. there is a book series calles LEFT BEHIND. It's kind of like a story of everything that happens in Revelation. The antichrist in there has a name but i don't recall it.

* I sure wish you people would read your bible you claim to beleive. The anti christ is not one specific individual and was in the world during the first century. Almost everyday I have to quote scripture about the anti christ, and I did not capitilize it because the King James version that I use does not. I will not quote it today, but here is where you can find what the bible says about the anti christ. 1 john 2:18,22 1 John 4:3

Read this book and you find a complete different picture of the false doctrine of the Anti Christ taught in denominational churches.

They confuse the anti Christ with that man of sin Paul talks about in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

If you read the bible closely, you find there was only one church in the beginning and that there must be a falling away from truth first and that a man of sin, someone who claims to be God on earth rises and the true church falls away and then false signs and miracles will occur. Remember false or conterfieght means not real.

The falling away has already happenned according to scripture and the evidence of this is all the differing warring Christian beleifs and i beleive it is clear who and what that man of sin is and he has been here since the 6th century.

Now I am not judging Christianity, but I know these things from my study of scripture when I was a Christian, and I was amazed at the ignorance of scripture among those who call themselves Christian then and I am now also.

If I am wrong and the bible is true, then I will not be suprised when I am cast in the lake of fire, but what about you Christians who follow false teachings? Will you be suprised when you are told depart from me you evil doers, I never knew you as Jesus said in Matthew 25:41-46?*

The theme of the New Testement is that the last days began with the ressurection of Christ and the prophecies that needed to be fullfilled for the world to end took place in the first century during the New Testement writers lifetime or shortly after, even the great Tribulation all Christians talk about happenned during the 200 years of pagan persecution of the chruch. which began shortly afer John wrote the book of Revelation, which he says himself it would SOON COME TO PASS. Revelation 1:1 *

Don't know, only God knows.

A figure who opposes God. The word is used to describe a spirit of rebellion against God, "...the spirit of the Antichrist..." (1 John 4:3) and of a specific future person identified as the man of lawlessness (2 Thess. 2:3). He actively opposes Christ (2 Thess. 2:4) and when he arrives, he will be able to perform miracles (2 Thess. 2:9). Some believe he will be an incarnation of Satan and as such will be able to deceive many. His number is 666 (Rev. 13:18). A further possible description of him might be found in Zech. 11:15-17).
