Kind of.
This is one way how to go to Confession
+ Get yourself ready by making your examination of conscience.
You enter the confessional. You can choose to talk to the priest face to face or anonymously behind a screen.
+ After the priest greets you with the Sign of the Cross make the Sign of the Cross and say: “Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been (say how long) since my last confession. These are my sins…”
+ Tell your sins simply and honestly to the priest. Don’t be embarrassed.
+ When you are done listing your sins please say: “…I am sorry for these sins and all the sins I can’t remember.”
+ Listen to the advice the priest gives you and accept the penance from him. Then make an Act of Contrition for your sins:
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
And failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Amen.
+ The priest will then conclude with the words: “Your sins are truly forgiven, Go in Peace”. You respond: “Thanks be to God.”
+ Perform your penance as soon as possible.
With love in Christ.

It is a valid confession if there is a screen separating you and the priest. The priest does have to hear your confession, though.
It really does not matter if the priest sees you or knows why you are. He isn't going to tell anyone what you said. And if the priest does know it is you, he will be able to pray for you after you have left.

When you go into the so called box, it is for privacy. It is not necessary for the priest to know who you are. God knows.
You can also use door number 2 and sit face to face with the priest if you want him to know who you are or you can go to confession in the rectory or walking down the street with the priest. The box is there only for convenience and for privacy.

From a Catholic perspective, a "confession" is once you have confided to a priest and acknowledged that you would like him to hear your confession. Traditionally, this is done in a Confessional, as you have described, however, you do not need to be hidden in order for it to be a confession. As long as you say it is a confession, the priest is sworn to secrecy and it is a confession.
Now from another perspective, a confession is simply you acknowledging your sins to another persons, and several other faiths believe this is a valid form of confession. Others believe you can confess directly to God.
Now, to directly answer your question, from a strict Catholic or Presbyterian perspective what you have described is "confession".
I hope this answers your question!

Only people who have access to the Holy Spirit will have the slightest chance to understand what the Apostle John meant when he said: "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Essentially, John is telling us that people who call themselves Christians must be willing to see their sin and confess their sin, or their actions demonstrate that Jesus Christ does not save them. Only Christ can forgive our sins. To say that we have that power is to say that we are just as high as God. We are not to pray to saints or Mary, they were just people like you and me. The Catholic church has it wrong and the anti-christ is the head of it. He will enter in through the catholic church. They are for world peace and bringing all religions together as one.Jesus warned us about this and the anti-christ. He wants to do away with the truth and bring "world unity" and "peace" to those that are cluless about the truth. For satan himself will come as an angel of light.
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." (II John 1:7)

You don't have to go to a priest to confess your sins. No offense, but Catholics kind of make up stuff sometimes.

Yep. He doesn't need to know who you are; as long as he says you're absolved, you're all set.
