Your crush--(the person you have a crush on, for those who don't understand vernacular), and your family and friends will be proud of you for being brave enough to perform in front of an audience. Do it! It's the most fun thing you can do while in high school! You will have a ball!

STAY CALM. I have been in this position. DO NOT PANIC. I know exactly what to do. JUST DON'T START A NERVOUS BREAK DOWN!

Ok first to pump myslef up before a performance of anykind what I do is think of how the audience will clap and cheer for me, then how they will give me a standing Ovasion, and I don't let the bad possibilityes phase me. Ok. Then when I walk out I picture, or find if possible the person I'm most comfortable performing infront of then I imagine that he or she is the only person watching and then I let it all out, and try to do my best, and then I worry about what people thought of me later.

If you feel sick to your stomach, or have butterflies, that is normal, think of it as how well people will compliment you later.

Good-luck!!!

One thing to consider is that you may not get over your fear at all. Many actors/actresses/comedians/musicians suffer from stage fright, even after years in the business. Don't try to not be nervous, because it probably won't work. You're doing something that is just inherently nerverwracking for most people. You'll just have to work through your nerves and get up there and do it anyway. If you wait to not be nervous, you'll never do anything. Don't picture the audience in their underwear, that's stupid and I don't know where it got started. But do remember that even if some idiot does laugh at you, the majority of people will be really impressed that you were brave and confident enough to able to get up there and do it at all. Bravery is not "not being afraid." as many people act like it is. Bravery is being afraid and doing it anyway. Good luck to you!

In your mind, picture them NAKED!
You have to challenge your fear and walk out there on stage and perform. Try to make sure the audience thinks you're having a grrreat time (they don't know they're naked). It's your big chance to show yourself that you can do it. It doesn't matter how well or how badly you think the performance goes as long as you finish what you started - DON'T STOP. Only then will you know that you can do it. The fear and the butterflies will always be there.
Break-a-leg. (By that I mean, "best wishes, do a great job.")

Hey there! If you REALLY want to do it then just go and do your best. No one laugh at you for trying. Everyone's in the same boat.Don't worry about what anyone but YOU thinks about the audition. I'm sure if you know what you're going to do and you've practiced it you'll do just fine!!!! My daughter is into acting but can not sing but has had to audition in the past with a song too. (DISASTER)-BUT at least she tried. You'll be fine! If something doesn't go right remember there will be more things to audition for. Everyone makes mistakes but only the really committed ones don't give up!!!

If you have a passion for performing, you have to put aside your nervousness and concentrate on your performance. Athletes and performers often speak about being in a state of "flow" when they are doing what they do best. This is also called "the zone". I enter the zone when I am writing. It is very useful, as I can concentrate without anything going on around me interfering with what I'm doing. I had a professor in graduate school who has written several books on this topic. He consults with the Cirque du Soleil (and many other organizations) about flow, and you might find his books interesting. Here are some links about him and his work:

I would say get drunk or high, but you seem like the type to over do it so never mind that. How bout you just suck it up and jump out on the stage. Have someone come out with you in a Big Bird costume so that they visually pay attention to him or her. Also find someone you can trust to tell you the truth, perform your talent in front of them first just to make sure you perform it well and won't embarrass yourself. You don't wanna look like some of the crazies that go on American Idol. Besides when its over you can put it behind you. If something bad happens it will be a story to tell your kids. Good luck.

first you need to calm down and take about 500 deep breaths! than behind the curtain, or right now, think of your "happy place" and then imagine alot of good things happening to you after you perform! like your crushes thinking your a great actor out there and wanting to kiss you! so do your best to impress the croud and your crushes! plus if some of those people laugh at you just think, i have a dream and they dont! im the one taking brave risks and they arent!

Don't forget to breath. Inhale-Exhale. We all get nervous. Critism is the only constant in performing. Praise can also be difficult. You will be fine:)

I personally use to have to always pee just before performing.
