If it's in the back and just to the left of midline, that is usually the sacroiliac joint. It is a very common place to hurt.
Sometimes, just a little difference in leg lengths can cause it. If you want to see if there is a difference, lie on floor with heels together and have someone see if one leg is longer than the other. If so, put a heel pad in heel of shoe of short leg.

It would be either your pelvic girdle (pelvis) or the femur (large leg bone). Those are the only two bones that touch the hip bone.

I wonder if it might be sciatica as in something disturbing the sciatica nerve. My left side hurts, too, and I think that's what it is.
