So I'm debating between a Tempurpedic Memory Foam bed or a Sleep Number bed with a Memory Foam mattress Topper ...what's better in your opinion? especially for those who have tried both. They're around the same price.

The lifespan is actually about the same as well. Both will provide an excellent nights sleep, but. The tempurpedic memory foam is only adjustable when ordering your matt (industry talk) if it based on a normal matt build up. An all foam matt will cost more, but they are very nice. I have the memory foam matt but I get it at a discount. I love the sleep number bed. It is a rock solid product, very high quality. Which one you ask? Without a dought, the sleep number bed is the right choice.

I am definitely suggesting you go for the tempurpedic. It is the best mattress ever made. It has a 20 yr warranty and bed bugs can't penetrate the mattress. a normal mattress doubles in weight over ten years with bed bugs and so would the sleep number. i love my tempurpedic b/c i never have any pressure points or discomfort. when i had my old mattress i could never find a comfortable place for my arm but the tempurpedic really does cushion your entire body. in one of the infomercials a pitcher hucks and egg at the mattress and it just falls to the other mattress below it and never cracks b/c the tempurpedic doesn't absorb energy so it doesn't transfer motion. the material was originallyu developed for NASA to cushion the astronauts from the impact of reentering the atmosphere. i have never felt a sleep number but air mattresses in general create pressue points. the tempurpedic is the best investment i have ever made and i sleep like a dream every night whether i am sick, angry or whatever. good luck in making your decision.

OK..my parents just went through this...first they bought the Tempurpedic and slept on it for 27 days. They complained incessantly about how hot the bed slept. And this was in November! Needless to say I convinced them to have it picked up before their 30 days was up. Imagine what they would have suffered through during the summer in Texas!!
Next they bought the Sleep Number bed. They bought the vibration feature, as well. They're very satisfied, after 2.5 months. I'm not sure about the Memory Foam mattress topper...it could be what keeps the body heat in.
By the way...my brother owns two Sleep Number beds, one at home and one at his vacation house.

I slept on a waterbed for over 30 years.. we switched to a Tempur-Pedic... tried it for one whole year.. It was the worst bed ever... We both complained very quietly, because we had made such a large investment on such a terrible bed... Out of desperation for a good nights sleep, we made another investment,, this time we tried the Select Comfort bed.. It is fantastic! I set my side to fit my taste and he sets his side to suit his comfort demand.. And the adjustable firmness option eliminates all those nasty back aches, shoulder aches... no more waking up with an arm going numb... We tried a memory foam topper, but changed away from it.. the memory foam just seems to take away from a comfortable sleep... maybe because it acted like insulation and got too warm, but we both agreed it was better without it..
I would still prefer to go back to a waterbed, but Select Comfort is still great.. We can even travel and stay at certain hotels that have the Select Comfort beds.. that's a big plus!

I actually got a real temperpedic bed, and found, after awhile, it got too molded to our bodies. We moved it to the guest room, and moved back in our original mattress and bought a 3inch memory foam topper for it. We have never been happier!! It feels much better, and was way cheaper!! Don't invest in a new bed, just buy the topper. I now have put them on all my beds, for our kids and guests, and it was a cheap update, and everybody raves about how comfortable they are!!

NEITHER. I owned the select comfort for years and it is a real POS. The memory foam appears to have problems as well.

I'd prefer a bed without memory, just in case I change shape during the day......oh, uh is that with or without the sheets?
