i have a laminate floor whiuch a carpeted over now i would like another laminate floor can i lift the carpet and put down laminate on whats already there

Not a good idea. I would suggest taking up the old floor so you have smooth surface to lay the new floor on.

I don't know why you would want to really. Doorjambs would have to be recut and transitions would be overly high. If you're ripping out old carpet you will probably have to pull the old tackless out of the laminate. It's very easy to just tear up the old laminate (unless its glued together) then all you have to do is sweep up and you're ready to lay new.
