are you using the right octane? sometimes for some reason people think a higher octane will help performance when it really does the opposite, so your cylinders may be firing late because of that. otherwise i'd check the distributer, and make sure all the wires are in the right order.

Everyone here is on the right track here. A bad or leaking injector can definately cause a misfire. If you have one, hook up a fuel pressure guage and monitor fuel pressure to verify the integrity of the fuel pump. Then shut the car off. The fuel pressure should not drop by more than 5 p.s.i. within 5 minutes. If it does you've got an injector leaking. Also I just had a mid 90's mustang come in to me at work with a misfire complaint. The customer changed the plugs and wires, but it wasn't a misfire. The car felt like it was missing but actually the Harmonic damper had seperated. This is a fairly common problem on many Ford cars. I've replaced a few in the past year.

Fuel is probly the way to go. Try swapping the injectors like the other guy says. If the problem is still on the same cylinder, check the vacuum. That will tell you where the problm is. Don't just assume the valves.

A misfire can also be caused by fuel. Determine which cylinder is misfiring by removing one spark plug wire at a time and see which one makes the least amount of change, this will be where your misfire is happening. I would try swapping injectors if its fuel injected and then checking your valves.
