Yes.
When my partner and I went into a home and took out a beautiful, but dirty, foul smelling little girl........we placed her in foster and the next time we saw her she was clean, SMILING, and HAPPY.
her mother never showed for ANY of her hearings.....she didn't want her. It was a slam dunk and the foster family kept her permently because they adopted her.
She did not even have a bed in the house we took her from. No toys, and from what we could tell, very little food. Or any food that a human would dare eat. The foster people gave her a room of her own, good food, some toys, and a wonderful life. She was 2 when we took her.
Hey Foghorn, what the hell do you know about it? You want to let a judge decide the fate of a child that he has never met?? That is what Socail Workers do.....they get the information, find out the facts, and tell the judge what they find........we get a really bad rap, but I would love to see you try this job for ONE DAY.

They get a lot of bad press and make mistakes but they have intervened and saved children so many times from abusive situations.I have kids placed in my care from social services and i cannot begin to tell you the horrors i have witnessed on these poor kids.No one is infalable and as long as lessons are learned by the mistakes we should try to understand that the role of a social worker can be very hard and demanding and sometimes they have to make decisions without much prep or background knowledge. Most children are confused by the very systems that are put in place to ensure their safety and they often feel things are worse but only because things are already bad for them. All of a sudden they have all these people making decisions for them and when they are removed from their family home they are the one's feeling it is all their fault. There will always be room for improving services for the protection for children but the government are raising standards to make sure this happens sooner rather than later.

Ummm plenty of time. My aunt works as a social worker and yes it is horrible to take a child from their mother or father but when the parents are addicts or abusive it is better for the child to not be in their care.

well with he Genie case in the 90s it was the doctors, not social workers who caused the problems.
she was confined in a room for 13 years- birth through age 13. she was either lcoked in a crib or tied down to a potty chair.
after she was rescued she got a team of doctors. they started a custody battle over her

Well, I'm afraid that if you cannot bring up your chidren correctly yourselves, then someone else will have to do it. Social Services themselves are a waste of time - decisions should be made by a Judge, without recommendations from milksop crybabies. A good Matron with a checklist will be able to allocate children to the appropriate foster-parents.

I was a foster child and i know that it all depends who the kids are fostered with...my foster parents were alcoholics and smoked weed alot, so not good...but i have seen kids who had a better life by being removed from their home.

yes i do. unfortunatly I cant disclose much information. But I know someon whos children were affected for the better. Family issues were bad, hitting, abuse verbal, ect. The children were weary but they are extreemly happy now.

if the child or children are being abused then its a good thing to take them away from that enviroment. if that means taking them away from there mother and father then thats what should happen no child deserves to be abused.

honestly, no.... i really do think that most of the time they do make matters worse for both child and parent. i realize and respect that they are just trying to help out, but a lot of the time it seems like they just being nosey and are prying into other peoples' business that they shouldn't have a say in in the first place. what do you do though? that's just life i guess.
