Recycling plastics is easy. First, you should learn what types of plastics can be recycled and only give your collector those types of plastics. Plastics have different formulations and should be sorted before they are recycled to make new products. Mixed plastics can be recycled, but they are not as valuable as sorted plastics because the recycled plastic’s physical properties, such as strength, may vary with each batch.
It's also important to rinse the container and squash it, you may leave the paper labels on the container, but always throw away the plastic caps. Plastic caps are usually made from a different type of plastic than the container and cannot be easily recycled.
A recycling plant uses seven steps to turn plastic trash into recycled plastic:
1. Inspection
Workers inspect the plastic trash for contaminants like rock and glass, and for plastics that the plant cannot recycle.
2. Chopping and Washing
The plastic is washed and chopped into flakes.
3. Flotation Tank
If mixed plastics are being recycled, they are sorted in a flotation tank, where some types of plastic sink and others float.
4. Drying
The plastic flakes are dried in a tumble dryer.
5. Melting
The dried flakes are fed into an extruder, where heat and pressure melt the plastic. Different types of plastics melt at different temperatures.
6. Filtering
The molten plastic is forced through a fine screen to remove any contaminants that slipped through the washing process. The molten plastic is then formed into strands.
7. Pelletizing
The strands are cooled in water, then chopped into uniform pellets. Manufacturing companies buy the plastic pellets from recyclers to make new products. Recycled plastics also can be made into flowerpots, lumber, and carpeting.

Yes, most recycling places are only excepting class 2 plastic. New recycling facilities are starting to allow up to class 6. If you look at the bottom of a plastic bottle it will have a triangle recycle symbol with a number in the middle. That number is the class of plastic.

Plastic and plastic bags are one the worst materials to decompose and it takes years for the environment to dispose of them!
To begin with, you need to start using alternative materials, meaning you should exile plastic from your life. Then you need to start recycling plastic on separate bins or you can just drop off your load at a local Recycling Centre, that's exactly the way it happens here in Greece. There should be plenty of Recycling Companies around. http://www.eco-trans.gr/

It depends where you are. In the UK, you can recycle all plastic bottles in some areas. In other areas, you can recycle anything with the recycling arrow around numbers 1, 2 or 3. If you're in the UK, your local council can tell you, they probably have a recycling website (just Google it). Hope that helps.

a lot of plastics can be recycled. Look for a number inside a recycle symbol on the item to see if its a type of plastic that can be processed by a recycling center.

No, it's all a great big government plot. The recycling bins are emptied and the contents carried to a warehouse in the Utah desert. The government is hoarding plastic in an effort to cause an artificial increase in basic plastic value. Once the people realize we are in the midst of a global plastic crisis, the plastic will be dumped back into the market, creating worldwide economic collapse, at which time martial law will ensue and we can begin consolidating our global empire. Please, if you value your freedom, DO NOT put plastic containers in the specially marked bin.

I recycle all my plastic containers. I don't recycle plastic paper or wrap but I recycle all my water bottles, coke / juice bottles, bleach, laundry detergent, etc. Most drink bottles have a recycle fee and all others I do just to save our planet.
