Interesting to note that she is more concerned with discussing her objections than getting on and doing her job, although the element of surprise perhaps suggests the mother had lost contact with her son for some reason. If that is the case then I guess she would not be in a suitable frame of mind to help the patient.

syzotch should get this because she is right. This is an old one and isn't as effective as it used to be back in the 60s and 70s when it was unusual for a woman to be a doctor. But it is in fact the mother. So congrats to Syznotch.
