Hey!

I may just be over cautious here, but when I was flossing in between my molars of the top teeth I noticed that as the floss touched the wire it was bending quite easily and as it was bending the wire became a bit loose between th molars and it got a bit of movement through the last bracket where the wire terminates.

Is this normal or have I loosened it in some way?

Thanks in advance!

Adam

The arch wire runs through a slot in the side of the band that is on the molar teeth. When you first get braces the arch wire is very flexible and increases in size and strength as the wire gets changed out monthly. It will have some slack to it especially if tugged on. The wire usually gets bent at the very back last molar to keep it from slipping out of the slot in the last band. Sounds to me like they didn't bend it close enough, your in a flexible wire, or your about ready to go in for an adjustment. In any case, it's pretty normal and nothing to worry about unless it comes out of the last molar and starts sticking you in the cheek. Hope I've been of some help and don't tug on it too much or you may pull it out. Good luck with the ortho!

Just in case they don't tell you, thanks for flossing!

I have braces to! Something similar to that happened my 2 of my brackets came off! you should call your orthodontics and made an appointment stat! Or you could mess your braces up really bad!

From what I understand from your post...

As your teeth adjust the wire will slowly start to poke through the end of your braces. All you have to do is go to your dentist and get this extra part cut off.

Don't worry i have braces too. Sometimes my wire is loose too, just tell your ortho and he tighten them but if the wire is poking your gum use the wax. But don't worry you probably didn't do anything to make that happen!

i have braces and I'm going to my ortho 3 hours from now. why? Because a bracket was removed from my teeth. I'm gonna get my braces tightened too.

Well, you should go to the orthodontist so that she can fix it up quickly. She may get it tightened.

The wire is usually pretty flexibile. Don't get scared. I had the same feeling when i had braces.

if u arent sure, go to the ortho. :]
better to be safe than sorry, it could depend on how much more time u'd need to be wearing them.
