If you truly formatted your c: drive, without using the option to put system files on it, then everything on it is gone including your command interpreter.

You will have to have a bootable floppy or, if your computer is new enough to support it, a bootable CD-ROM or USB device. No way around it.

In order to unformat the hard drive, you will have to boot from a system CD. Youe WIndows 98 CD should allow you to do that. Once booted, you will have to run an undelete (unformat) program from a CD. Hopefully you have one....

Get an free, reliable, up to date operating system at http://www.ubuntu.com.

if you have 256MB of RAM get a full version. If less get XUBUNTU.

All of the programs are free too.
