I'm waiting on a W2 from out-of-state. I called them & made sure they had my address, but still...nothing.
What's the legal deadline, & how can I make sure they mail it to me?

I believe that they must be mailed out and postmarked by Jan 31. Could take a few days to get to you. I just received some of my out-of-state W2's earlier this week.

The deadline is Jan 31 of every year, they have to be postmarked by this date and the employer could face fines and penalities for not having them out and postmarked by this date!

The deadline was Wednesday, January 31st to have them in the mail. Payroll usually won't reissue another one until at least a week has gone by, sometimes 2. Call your payroll department and ask if they can print it to PDF and email it to you. If not, ask them to mail another one. If you can open this link you'd be able to open the PDF if they'll email it to you.
