I think its a matter of personal choice. Most people I know like glossy but I like the matte, its easier to see the picture without the glare of lights overhead or something.

The question is much more of a personal preference than anything. It also depends what you plan on printing on this paper. Black and white looks best in glossy, but if it's color paper, glossy looks a bit over the top and is used more for fashion shots. Matte color paper usually works very well and is not as flat as matte b+w paper. But in the end, it's all about how you want your pictures to look and is a personal choice.

I'm a landscape photographer, and I use a finish called lustre. It's somewhere between the two. It has a very subtle sheen to it, but with the durablity, and clarity of matte.
If your lab doesn't have it, go with the matte finsh. It's more professional looking, and less prone to fingerprints.
The difference is glossy is very shiny, and matte is't shiny at all. Prices are usually the same.

Matte.Definately. Glossy looks cheap. Matte you can really see the details and shadowing of the photograph rather than just the shine of the paper. Especially at Walgreens, they have the worst glossy paper...

Different people have different preferences. Glossy reflects the light a little more and is a little more "shiny". Matte doesn't do this, and has a bit of a "mottled" look on the paper. At your photofinishers, they cost the same, but I prefer matte.

It depends on the subject of the photographs, but if I were you, I would go with the matte. I think it looks more professional.

its up to you. My choice is Matte every time. Black and white photos are much clearer and nostalgic in Matte.
