Journalists, historians, and people alike have been blaming the immigration and hatred towards immigration for this.

Do you agree?
What do you think is the reason?

I just saw a local news channel (NYC) report a story about it, thats why i am asking. Supposedly theres a growing amount of KKK members in Long Island and New Jersey.

That's why I like Canada. The KKK is regaurded as a racist organization and therefore is not permitted. :-) Unlike in the states where everyone has the freedom to be a complete idiot if they wish. :-(

More like stories about the KKK and other groups is on the rise.

Slow news day usually brings out the fringe stories.

The various racist/seperatist groups out there have an ebb and flow to membership. This time around issues related to illegal immigration are probably being blamed.

There really isn't a good reporting mechanism to know exactly how many Skinheads/KKK or whatever you are counting.

I saw that too. I guess because people agree with some points they make about the problems of illegal immigration, they are ignoring the rest of what the KKK stands for.

I can't imagine why they can't join a more mainstream group, though, since there are now quite a few.

Here is the story for people who want to read it.

I have not seen the story but would think that people are fed up with the inaction on the governments part. I would guess folks are turning to them for support and a general dissatisfaction with the way things are going in the US. It's time for people to wake up and see what is going on before it's too late if it isn't already.

you can blame the illegals for this. people think the KKK is all games. if they are the same way they was in their day we might be ok. but we have to many young joining it and alot of them feel and believe the way Hitler did. this time they are standing up for all united states americans. why do you think the feds keep watch on them.

I do agree this is the reason why their popularity is rising again. While the KKK never totally disappeared, our government is definitely "playing favorites." While our government ignores Americans, groups like this one will grow.

I heard an interview with their "grand wizard." He stated that they are just as much against the illegal alien criminals as they are the black & gays. They estimated it was a 60% increase in membership..

This group is fed up with the illegal aliens just as much as most Americans. While the KKK is racist, most Americans aren't.

On the one hand... I think illegals should be gotten rid of. They're a plague to this country.

On the other hand... I think the KKK should be treated in the same manner as Al Quaeda. They are a terrorist organization.

No, I don't think the KKK has been growing. I think the problem of inbreeding has slacked off in the past generation. Stupidity and racial hatred is still there but not as organized. The hatred of ILLEGAL immigrants (note the word ILLEGAL) who have been getting free handouts is what's pissing us all off.
My grandparents, parents, aunts/uncles were IMMIGRANTS but they went through the proper channels to enter the U.S. They worked hard to be part of this great nation. They took it upon themselves to learn the language and not expect handouts.
