Retiring in australia is not as easy as it used to be. You have 2 visa options:

- Visitor visas valid for 3 -12 months. This is not a long term option, you would need to constantly travel in and out of the country. You would also find it difficult to buy real estate, etc...

- Investor Retirement visa. This is a better long term option however it still only affords you temporary residence. You will need to have a substantial amount of money to apply for this visa, i.e. $1,000,000 - $1,500,000.

The only other option is a parent visa, if you have more than half of your children living in Australia.

Well as long as the Brits will tansfer your pension you shouldnb't have a problem We have lots of Poms come here to retire, Most go to Queensland for the eternal Sunshine.

What a wonderful choice in selecting our country to retire, you wont regret it. Well not unless you whinge about how good it was back in the d'art and support that bloody English Girly cricket team you keep sending out here.

Good luck sport

As suggested, contact the appropriate government agency. However, there was (or used to be) a provision for "self supporting retirees". It required that you had sufficient funds to live in Oz without recourse to medical, pension or other social security services. Unless you are in that category or the majority of any offspring you have are already here, its actually quite difficult to get here as a permanent resident.

Some try cheap boat trips from adjacent countries, but its not that successful these days :-)
