I want to swap the 4 cylinder motor in my 1995 Jeep Wrangler with a inline 6 cylinder from another Jeep and I need to know if the motor mount location is the same as the 4 cylinder or do I need to change to the 6 cylinder location.

The I-6 bolts right up. Your gonna need the brain to match your new engine. A new raditor, The fuel pump should be fine, if not I'm sure someone will correct me. Anyway.... If I am also correct you have a 5 speed and that means lower gears in your axles. 4.10s I think. This is a great thing. Now you can run 33 in tires w/o changing your gears!

Here's what else I would do if I were in your shoes:
Thorley Header.... not the stock manifold 4.0 manifolds crack had mine welded twice.
Accel Mopar Remote Super Coils.... Gonna need a coil get a hotter one.
AEM Cold Air Kit......Love mine!
Centerforce Clutch.....the engine is out now is your chance. You should buy a stronger clutch in the handle the hp and torque upgrade anyway.

Have fun!

By the way... no I have not done this swap before but on of my customers at my shop just did one and he loves it.

Just remember to do more research other than this forum.

If you're pulling it from a donor jeep, shouldn't be hard since you'll have everything you need. The mounts are in the same location for the 4 & 6. Just be sure to pull the transmission as well due to the fact that the ax-5 will never stand up to the i6. If you've just got the engine and will have to piece it together, unless you are willing to do a HUGE job, you might as well sell yours and buy another '95 with an i6 already in it. May even be cheaper as well. Not only do you switch out your engine, but you have to get a different transmission, exhaust, computer, intake... Just about everything from your fan to your transfercase. That's why so many people concider v8 swaps when they switch out engines. Only thing with that is that you will want to switch out to bigger axles as well. Plenty of places make adapters to mount an 8.

You will need to change to the 6 cylinder and also know if the transmission will work with the 6 cylinder.

in my experience all the yjs 4.0 and the 2.5 have the same motor mount locations. By chance are you putting in a fuel injected straight 6. they are fun lol

If you are going to go through all that trouble, why not put in a small block V8. I'm sure that there are lots of kits for this on the market. I'll bet that it wouldn't cost much more or be much worse on fuel than the 4.0.
