A semantic web in teaching literature is a visual way to brainstorm all issues related to a book/story. The teacher will put the subject in the middle and then every related idea will radiate outward from this subject. Imagine a child's sun drawing circle in the middle and lines outward is the simplest web. More complex webs not only occupy outward lines but also interconnects the outward lines with each other to see how each detail relates to another. Think of the word web and imagine a spider's web (of information related to one subject)

Semantic Web in teaching literature is used to solve some basic problems in Education, increase flexible distributed lifelong learning, decrease teacher's workload.

Two application areas for use in Semantic web are:
a) software agents that support teachers in performing their tasks in flexible online educational settings
b) software agents that interpret the structure of distributed, self-organized, self-directed learning networks for lifelong learning.

The resulting information is used by learners to help persons perform their tasks in this context more effectively and efficiently.
