Im trying to make sweet potato pie but i need to know how many cups there are in 1/2 stick of butter.

An American stick of butter is usually 1/2 cup, so 1/2 a stick would be 1/4 cup.

1 stick of butter = 1/2 cup so 1/2 stick = 1/4 cup

I don't believe a 1/2 stick of butter will equal a cup. Usually on the outside stick of butter it is measured off and should provide the needed information you request.

1/2 of a stick of butter equals 1/4 cup. Whole stick = 1/2 cup.
There are 2 cups in a pound (16oz) of butter.

One cup is 8 ounces a stick is 4 ounces therefore 1/2 stick is 2 ounces or 1/4 a cup.
