It could be a million things. Some ideas:
1. If you haven't already done so, I would crate train him during the nights while you are asleep. This teaches to have a safe place and not be lonely.
2. Give suitable toys for nighttime play. The puppy don't get bored without you.
3. If you are leaving your dog outside, there are many things to bark at that they see. Try to keep the puppy inside.
4. Try to use a radio at night - softly. Keeps them entertained so they don't think you are gone. Sneaky however works.

Good Luck! Hope one of these stops the barking!

OK i will tell you i have had dogs all my life and its not hard to teach them to be quiet.
when the dog barks you walk over to the dog and hold his mouth his snout . and then you say NO be Quiet. and use two fingers of the other hand to give him a swat on the bridge of his nose and snout.
it is important that when the dog does hear noises that you hear and he does not bark you say good dog and give him some pats.
keep this up only use the exact words i gave you do it the same every time never ever yell at the dog to shut up because it is known that the dog thinks your barking and cant understand why if your barking he is not to bark so do yell.
be as consistent as is humanly possible and be patient too a little puppy OK . also dont leave a puppy outside alone anywhere for long they are pack animails and you are the pack .

I have 6 dogs, 5 of them are outside dogs - yes they are outside 24-7. One of the dogs will bark if a leaf blows by. I have thought about getting her a bark collar because she has a high, shrill bark and sometimes will bark for hours on end. 2 of the dogs (that hardly ever bark) are in one pen and the other 3 are in another pen - which is really big. I have 4 cockers - the ones that usually are doing the barking - and they are by nature "watch dogs" so it is natural for them to bark at things they might be worried or curious about.

The puppy is just lonely and misses his family. As he's sleeping or before he starts to, put a ticking clock in there to comfort him with a simulated heartbeat. It will comfort him and teach him to get used to lonely nights. Also put a sturdy toy in there to soothe any teething pains he may have during the night. Another thing may be where his pen is. If he can see you or someone else then he will want to come out and play. So it may seem cruel but put a towel over so he can still breath but doesn't see you. When he whines for you, don't comfort him or he'll expect it even more. He is just calling out for another dog or person so when no one comes, it will stop. Good luck and pleasant dreams!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMRir

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/crAOY

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Spanking him or hitting him isn't going to accomplish anything but making your dog confused and scared of you. Are you leaving him outside alone all night? Dogs don't like being left alone - they're social animals. If they're inside and barking, you'll have to firmly tell them 'no' each time they start to bark. There is no need to yell or hit - it doesn't work.

I've always used the water in a spray bottle method to train dogs. When they bark senselessly you spray them with the water and so No or Aaaahh and they will stop - in most cases - some dogs do love water and they will try to drink it.......those are few and far between. Try it and hopefully it will work for you pretty soon you will just have to say No or Aaaah and they will stop.

If it is a puppy, it probably is lonesome. It wants it's siblings. Just simply get it a stuffted animal. It will smell like you, thus, it should calm it down.
