At the age of 2 "preschool" is really just daycare. They don't learn anything of an academic nature, but some benefit from the social aspect. In my opinion as long as you involve her in other activities such as playing at the park, maybe a music class, gymnastics...that sort of thing, she will be getting the socialization she needs at that age.

Around age 3 or even 3 1/2 she will benefit more from a lightly structured preschool. I would start with just two half days a week. Most preschools require that the child be potty trained, though some such as my son's preschool do not. Personally I think it's easier once they are potty trained so you don't need to worry about packing a diaper bag or anything. Also, by the age of two she should have been off of the bottle a long time ago. At this point she may be damaging her teeth by continuing to use a bottle. I would work on these things before you consider putting her in a preschool.
If there aren't substantial reasons for you to return to work at this time I would recommend that you wait until she 4 and attending preschool at least 3 days a week before you go back to work. She will benefit from you more than anyone else :)
Good luck!

I think you will need to talk to the preschool. I don't think they take kids until they are potty trained and off the bottle. Maybe waiting until she's three would be better. I think most kids start preschool around 3 or 4.
My niece (age 4) started going three days a week, half days... it has been great, although I think both my sister and my niece could handle it if she went full-time now.

it depends on your situation. most 2 yr olds have started to learn there shapes, colors, counting 10 100 and ABCs. I am a home daycare provider and I taught them that plus days of the week and seasons, opposites and things like ocean, farm and jungle animals.

kids learn fast. being around other kids and someone other than you might speed up the potty training and getting off the bottle.

there are places that take them at two, just find the right one for you, even if you have to sit in and sneak out after a few days, she will get used to it and start wanting to go.
they learn things fast and i say the younger the better so get her in an academic preschool, she will learn something and be able to play the day away.

good luck!

I think 3 years is a better age to start preschool. where i live they don't take kids unless they are 3, by that time they are usually potty trained and should be off the bottle.

3 or 4 is a better age, and most preschools require children to be potty-trained. I would wait another year or so. Try using a daycare program if you really need to get back to work.

Hold on to her for a few months and then ask her one day if she is ready examine the school thorougly then take her. If you don't like it find another preschool. But if she doesn't want to go to preschool still, then don't make her go but give her those young children math books for like preschool that you can buy at learning express.

It depends on your decision some children are in childcare at 6weeks. Are you planning on going back to work? My only advice would be to transition her off bottles 2 year olds should probably drink from cups instead of bottles. From what I've observed at childcare they will monitor your child at a table and start giving them cups at 1-18months. Also I guess diapers are okay for you but me personally my boys were off bottles at 12months and potty trained by 2years old. Those are some of the things that they will always work with you on with your child. It makes it easier if you and the daycare to work together as a team. Good luck with your little one.

The sooner the better! specially if she is an only child.I put mine when they where a year a 8 month...fully equipped with bottles and diapers they marched to pre-school.
They cry for the first 2 days...but then they love it! my first born became much more tolerant of her new sister when she was born because she had "experience" with other kids. But you have to consider she will get sick very ofter in pre-school....that is one of the "why not" you have to consider...but the benefits are way more attractive. As a teacher myself, I recommend not to do the 3 times a week schedule. It confuses them and it takes them longer to adjust.Put her in a full week, 1/2 day.You will suffer to see her cry for the first 2 or 3 days but then you will be surprised on how much she enjoys it.
