Hamsters should be weaned at four weeks of age into two new cages, one cage for the males and one cage for the females. I've had well over 300 litters and thousands of pups. Leaving them with the mother for longer for 4 weeks only causes stress to the mother. In the wild, they leave the mother around 3-1/2-4 weeks of age. You may still see the pups suckling off the mother. They don't need it at this point and all it is doing is causing additional strain on the motherl

Hamsters are usually ready to leave their mother around 6-7 weeks old. I know this because my daughter has had 4, all from babies.

and you asked this in the bird category because they are "BABBY" 's? I hope the experience was fun and you didn't allow them to inter- breed. As soon as they are feeding on their own, send them on their way, because they will breed again, and you don't want to be giving away pregnant "babby's"

after the mother is away from them, full hair is grown; because with any human scent, they will never go near eachother, and hair protects that.
