I know the frame of my car was damaged when I was hit last week. The front end of the car is torn off, front drivers side axle broken, and the frame is smashed. In addition drivers side rear quarter is hit, with rear end torn off. Does frame damage = total?? I think that once upon a time it did...but now???

Hey Donna Stick a fork in it, it's done. It will never be the same. The insurance company will sell it for salvage. You don't want it. Trust me.

absolutely not. that is a very common myth. frame machines are in every body shop nowadays. They can get the frames back to the exact specifications they were at prior to the accident. Of course some times the damage is too extensive to repair- but not all cars that have frame damage are totalled. big fat myth

Frame damage is just one of the things the adjuster will look at. Does frame damage alone mean a car is totaled? No.

No. A car is a total loss only when the price of repairs exceeds the insurance company's determined value of your vehicle.

Nowadays, most cars are built using unibody (frame and body as one) construction. Skilled technicians, with the aid of our state-of the-art computer measuring system , can return your vehicle to its original factory specifications.

If it is determined that the frame section is bent beyond repair, that section can simply be replaced.
