I am needing a cater and possibly a photographer for my wedding in June and am coming up short. I found my DJ at an expo/show in Lebanon, KY and am interested in going to other shows.

Most photographers book a year in advance and those wedding shows are SO crowded that every photographer I talked to there already had my date booked. June being the most common month usually books up FIRST too so if you want to go to a show in April or May, they will be full. I'd recommend you start talking to everyone you know that has gotten married in the last few years. Have your parents ask people at work, make your groom ask people at work. Get as many recommendations are possible as to some people to call. I ended up calling close to 15 photographers to find one in my price range that had June available.

Most people book the caterer and photographer first and the problem is if you already have a date that you really are set on, you are going to have to talk to probably 5 or more caterers and photographers to find the ones that have that particular date open unless you are able to change your date a bit.

For my caterer I used a popular one that a friend used but the photographer--I found a smaller person that hadnt been doing it long. Cost was really a big factor. I had to meet with several photographers too b/c the ones that say they are in your price range, start jacking the price up and end up not being in that range at all. Those two things will be the majority of the budget so I'd start asking as many people as possible today so you'll know how much you have left over to plan the rest of the wedding.

Also check the knot. They have the service where you can type in your zipcode and find the ones in your area. But they tend to be pricer.

Good luck and don't wait for the bridal fair. You won't have time to find out if you like the caterer or photographer--you'll have to go with whatevers leftover!

Well...I don't know of any in Kentucky in FEB but if you need to find wedding vendors, I would suggest looking at online website such as

http://www.weddinglenox.com ,weddingvendors.com ,onewed.com

Unlike most yellow pages, they have price comparison for the vendors (DJ,videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose.

You can also try Weddinglenox matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup1.php that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved email from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

I don't know why some of these places start having shows in MAY!
There's been a few here in Cincy starting last month.
